The Greenbrier is one of the best kept secrets in West Virginia. It has somewhat recently become under the spotlight thanks to the PGA tournament played every year on the resort’s famous Old White course. From the one of a kind Dorthy Draper designed interior to the 55 activities, this hidden gem will forever hold a special place in my heart. I’ve been fortunate enough to get to grow up visiting the resort since I was in my mom’s belly. My grandparents are lucky enough to live 10 minutes away in Lewisburg (once voted the coolest small town in America!) and frequent the resort almost daily–it is essentially their country club. Over the course of many years my family and I have made countless memories from horseback riding up the mountain with Danny leading the way to running over to the resort just for a peach milkshake from Drapers.
When I was a sophomore at UNC, I reached out to the HR department to see if the resort had any summer internships available; I unfortunately found out they did not. However, I was told about a program offered for recent college grads. I kept that in the back of my mind and reached back out this past fall. I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and after a long process of deliberation and changing job offers, I am proud and so excited to announce that I will be moving to Greenbrier County in a few weeks to be an event coordinator at The Greenbrier! I could not think of a better place to start my career, producing events at a place I love so much. I know I am very fortunate to not only have a job when I graduate but a job that I know I will love. It’s not work when you love what you do.
