Little did I know three years ago that the ever so delicious snack my friends and I all love was created in West Virginia AND that not many people in the world have ever had one! This blew my mind when I came to school. I did some research as to why the entire country didn’t have pepperoni rolls and found out it began in the coal country. The Italian wives invented the pepperoni roll as a meal for their husbands and sons to take down with them in the coal mines. It didn’t need refrigerated, was easy to store, and could be eaten in one hand.
I have since tried to spread the joy of pepperoni rolls and I’ve noticed Pinterest has too. They’re super easy to make with just a few ingredients: rolls (I use Crescent Rolls), cheese, and pepperoni.
