Several months ago in an interview I was asked immediately upon sitting down, “so Hayden, what were you born to do?” After being caught totally off guard and fumbling around in my brain, attempting to find an answer that might have some sort truth, I replied, “to travel.” He must have liked my answer because I got the job and am currently an event coordinator at The Greenbrier, a resort that I have traveled to and enjoyed ever since I was even a dot on my parents’ radar. My response had more truth to it that I ever imagined. I have a strong case of wanderlust. It is at the top of my bucket list to visit all 50 states (I’m currently at 41…Alaska I’m coming for ya!) and I am off on a new adventure every day I’m not working. I studied abroad in Florence, Italy for 4 months and ate my way across Europe. I love a good meal just about, if not more, than I love to travel. I always try to find the best places to indulge in no matter where I go. I value and appreicate an experience and memory significantly more than a tangible object. Greenbrier County, West Virginia is quite the change from Chapel Hill, North Carolina but life so far in a small town, five minutes away from my grandparents, has been a great start to this next chapter in my life some refer to as adulthood.
